No this isn't a promotion for new software for your desktop computer but rather an idea that entered my mind in the closing hours of 1995. As we look to yet another year passing we look forward to the windows of 1996. Each one of us walks a different path and comes into contact with different people. Each one of us has opportunities that will be unique to our journey through life. Noah the first boatbuilder in the Bible, built the ark which was one and a half the length of a football field and was instructed to place one window facing upwards. Looking towards heaven so they could gaze on the glory of God their view was continually focused on the Lord Jesus, as ours should also be. In Joshua 2:15 Rahab was seen to use the window as a means of salvation for the two men sent to spy out Jericho for Joshua. The red cord speaks of the blood that was shed for our salvation. It reminds us that we need to be faithful in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with those that desperately need Him. We are not promised tomorrow and it may be too late someday to share the good news with a neighbor, relative or friend. Rahab was faithful and cited in Hebrews for being used as the one who believed. Then we see Daniel on his knees before a window, facing Jerusalem, prayed each morning making supplication before his God, reminding us of our need to be in prayer, looking to Him alone for our needs and the strength to do His will. Lastly we need to remember that someday the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. Then the windows of heaven will open and we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds with the dead in Christ to meet the Lord in the air and remain with Him always.
